Some important Legal References

We have compiled some important issues concerning the legal framework and your book contract. In doing so, we have focused on a contract design which we believe is simple, transparent and fair.

Contractual Freedom – No Exclusivity!

You are not required to give the exclusive copyright of your book to tredition, we do not require exclusivity. This means that you may also publish your book with another service provider or publishing house. You cannot however, use the ISBN assigned by tredition as these numbers are exclusively allocated to us.

Delivery Times

Delivery times for author copies within the US are

  • Paperback: 7 days
  • Hardcover: 10 days

Shipments abroad take a few days longer. If the last day of the specified delivery time is a Saturday, Sunday or a public holiday at the place of delivery, the delivery time ends on the next working day.

Price Calculator

The royalty amount per unit sold, which you calculated with our price calculator at the time of publishing at “Royalties” in our publishing process, will be sent to you along with the book contract via e-mail. It is valid for the entire duration of the contract.

The calculation basis of the calculator (e.g. printing costs or trade discounts) is not fixed. This means that the prices and royalties shown in the calculator may change in the future. Therefore, the royalty you calculate with our calculator at a later time, may be lower or higher than at the time of publication. For your contract, however, only the royalty you defined in the publishing process at the time of publication under “Royalties” will be applied.

Conditions and Methods of Payment

In our shop, you can pay by credit card (Mastercard, Visa), Giropay, Paypal or Amazon Payments.  We reserve the right to refuse a payment method and to refer the author to an alternative method of payment.

Book Contract

Upon publication, the author and tredition close a book contract which regulates the rights of both parties. One contract per format (i.e. per ISBN) is closed.

Duration

With publication, authors grant tredition the right to distribute their book for one year. If the contract is not terminated, it will continue free of charge.

Cancelation Period

Authors can terminate their author contract after one year with a 4 week notice period, up until the end of the selected calendar month.

Right to Revoke

You have the right to revoke from the contract within 14 days after conclusion. The cancellation policy is stated in our Terms and Conditions. We will also forward this policy to you by e-mail after contract closing. You can use the revocation form, that is part of our “Terms and Conditions“.

Copyright

Authors always keep the copyright of their text. It cannot be transferred. You merely transfer the exploitation right to tredition – non-exclusive (see “Contractual freedom” above).

This Internet site and its offers is only for customers in the USA, Canada and Mexico. European customers shall use our websites https://tredition.de or https://tredition.co.uk

Prerequisite for a Publication

The basis of our publication offer is that you, as the author, submit your book online through our website and that you carry out the publishing process independently without being accompanied by tredition. For instance, you must upload the cover layout and the book file. This is the only way we can maintain our favorable conditions in the future. Books submitted by post or email cannot be processed.

We exclusively publish books, the contents of which

  • do not violate the applicable law,
  • do not infringe the basic principles of democracy and the rule of law,
  • respect human dignity,
  • respect the rights of minorities.

The decision in this regard is based on our subjective opinion and will be made at our sole discretion.

Clear hints and tips for issuing a correct book file are given on our homepage under “Downloads”.

The publication is free if you purchase at least 35 author’s copies at the reduced rate for authors upon publication. If you buy less than 35 copies, the one-time fee for the publication is £149.99.

No further running costs do incur.
