Book Format and Specifications

When publishing with tredition, you can select the format as well as the specifications (paper type, finishing, binding, etc.) of your book. The decision on the book furnishing should be based on its content and genre. A crime novel for example, should be a small paperback, e.g. 5*8 in, whereas a reference book should be larger, e.g. 8*10 in. But the freedom of design is yours!

This is why we had to reconcile the requirements of all print shops worldwide. You can choose from the following options:

We use high-quality paper for the inner book. It is available in white (50lb./ 75gsm) and crème/ chamois (50lb./ 80gsm). The paper types are aging resistant and free from acid and chlorine.

Color Pages

The interior of your book may be black and white or full color. The entire surface up to the trimming edge can be printed in color.

Please bear in mind that color pages are more expensive to print which leads to an increase of the retail price of your book. You can check the minimum sales price of your book with our price calculator.

Printed tredition books can be published as Paperback or Hardcover editions.

Paperback: The colored paperback cover is made of flexible 250 gsm cardboard and is bound as thermal binding with side gluing.

Hardcover: A book in the classic sense with a sturdy cover and spine, as it was already made at the time of Gutenberg. The spine is made using dispersion-adhesive.

Cover Refining

Paperback covers and Hardcovers are refined with lamination (an extremely thin film) in order to protect them from damage like abrasion or stains. Authors can select between glossy and matte enhancement.
